Bellarmine University is hosting a special panel discussion on The Gospel Beyond the Grave: Toward a Black Theology of Hope (Cascade Books, 2025) by Dr. Lewis Brogdon, Executive Director of BSK’s Institute for Black Church Studies. This event brings together voices from three different academic traditions for a rich and collaborative dialogue: Bellarmine University (Catholic), Simmons College of Kentucky (Historically Black College & University affiliated with the National Baptist Convention of America, International) and BSK Theological Seminary (Cooperative Baptist Fellowship).
Panelists include: Lewis Brogdon (BSK Theological Seminary), Darvin Adams (Simmons College of Kentucky), Justin Klassen (Bellarmine University), Mark Medley (BSK Theological Seminary). Together, these scholars will wrestle with urgent questions: What is Christianity’s ultimate vision of justice? Does the promise of heaven offer balm for the wounds of racial injustice? What role does eschatological hope play in moving us toward God’s justice now?
This event is sponsored by the Department of Theology & Religious Studies and the Ethics and Social Justice Center at Bellarmine University. It will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 10:45 AM – 12:05 PM, Eastern Time, in the Alumni Legacy Room at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY. Please join us for an engaging discussion!
