Dr. Lewis Brogdon, Executive Director of the Institute for Black Church Studies at BSK Theological Seminary, will be featured in a national conversation with Robert P. Jones at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s General Assembly Advocacy Breakfast in St. Louis. The event takes place on Thursday, June 26 at 7:30 A.M. and is co-sponsored by Good Faith Media.
Jones, the president and founder of Public Religion Research Institute, is the author of the critically acclaimed book The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy and the Path to a Shared American Future. Dr. Brogdon will interview Jones in a dialogue that explores the deep entanglements of white supremacy, American Christianity, and the future of multiracial democracy.
This high-profile event reflects the Institute’s growing role in national conversations about the moral and spiritual condition of America. It builds directly on Dr. Brogdon’s recent articles, Christian Witness in an Age of Change and Collapse and Devouring Itself: Nihilism and the Fall of the American Empire, which call the church to a bold, prophetic response in the face of political unraveling, climate catastrophe, and the erosion of public truth.
“As a nation faces the collapse of meaning and moral vision, this is precisely the kind of leadership and theological clarity the church needs right now,” said Dr. Brogdon. “We’re honored that the Institute is helping shape these urgent conversations.”
This summer and fall, the Institute for Black Church Studies will continue highlighting the moral crossroads facing the church and nation. Follow our work and join us as we speak into the defining issues of our time.
